I still have bouts of crippling insecurity about who I am as an engineer and person. They happen much less frequently these days; been trying to do the work.

To counter this, when I'm having a good day and something difficult comes together, I will shout at my husband wherever he is in the house… "YOUR WIFE IS A FUCKING SMART BITCH."

To his credit and my delight, he often responds with something like "Why are you shouting things that I already know?!?"

Today is a shout-y day. ❤️

With Apple's support for digital IDs still nowhere to be seen outside of the US, I've taken a look at France's digital ID app on the iPhone, which was made publicly available earlier this year.

The app is a strange, frustrating mix of physical and digital that says a lot about the issues that inevitably get raised when a state wants to take their IDs digital without Apple's help.

As confusing as the Apple Store retail experience is (and oh boy is it!), their repair service is still second to none. Took my almost 3 year old laptop in. Hardware tests found it to be faulty, it’s off to be repaired for free. Took all of maybe 15 minutes to organise.

On the reverse side of my occasional criticism of Apple I have owned their shares for many years. This is the first time I’m considering selling. The core question for me is will they lose enough of their monopoly power in the next few years so that it stops being a massive competitive advantage? But then I’m thinking when they say “AI” on stage in June that will be a free 10% stock bump because markets are rarely rational so… 🤷‍♂️

Is there a good alternative to the Tesla Powerwall? I love the idea of storing power locally but for the life of me don’t want to support Musk’s company.
